Big Question

Spike lee is obviously a very notable person. He has changed the image of black people and other minorities forever. He has also changed the way movies are filmed and even written a book about the most notable African American people in history. He has challenged racial and other stereotypes, never been afraid to address controversy or start it even if it could get him in trouble. He also in a way started the contribution of blacks in Hollywood.

Researching Spike Lee was not hard but not super easy. There was sufficient information but the was not masses. For example it was really hard to research his early life and near impossible to find specific dates and ages. It was also hard to find quotes and things he himself had actully said and not just what a journalist said.

Spike Lee was born into a middle class family in Atlanta but very quickly moved to Brookly which is now the place he is recognized by. His mum was a teacher at a local private school and his dad was a jazz musician. His mum wanted him to be proud of his African American heritage and would often take him and his brother to plays and films that obviously influenced him in later life.

In One summer break Spike lee was at a friend's house looking for something to do, he saw a camera in the corner of the room and asked if he could borrow it over the holidays and she said yes. Over those holidays Spike went around New York filming different things and started to really to like filming and photography and also started to get good at it. He then decided he wanted to be a director and was excepted to a university where he used those bits of film to make a documentary on New York.

One of the reasons Spike Lee is notable is his work in the recognition of the unfair and often very racist. I recently watched "BlacKkKlansman" which is one of his movies about the true story of the infiltrating of the Ku Klux Klan but it also showed how racist and vile a lot of white people where only 60 years ago. He has also challenged the stereotypes of minority's and other groups of people in countless films including his first, "She's Gotta Have it" and his most recent "Da Five Bloods" . Spike Lee has also written 13 book including 3 picture books including giant steps, a book about notable and great African American people from the past who have changed the world in a positive way. He has also done quite a lot of charity work.

Another notable thing Spike Lee has done is how he directed and acted in the Michael Jordan ads which are arguably the most recognizable and well known ads in the world. In those adds  Spike Lee was his "She's Gotta Have it" character Mars Blackman who brought in street fashion and culture into the ads and the image of the shoes resulting in Jordan's becoming the most popular shoes in history and Nike becoming one of the most well-known and biggest sporting brands in history. Michael Jordan was not Spike Lee's only connection to basketball as well as Spike Lee is said to have spent over 10million dollars on season pass tickets for him and his wife.

One of Spike Lee's other notable traits is his unique and revolutionary cinematography. Spike Lee is known to try different and new techniques in his movies which gives them a different feel. He also uses vibrant colors in his films giving them a lighter feel and making them more enjoyable more most viewers. As well as that he uses meaningful and often hip hop music in his films.

Spike Lee inspired me in the way of showing that every passion is achievable, for example after that summer with a camera he then watched the movie "The Deer Hunter" and fell in love with film. Then a little over ten years later he had made a movie with the budget of $150,000 which ended up profiting over $7,000,000 and was one of the biggest hits of 1978. He also persevered even though he knew that he would make countless white supremacists and other groups of critical and often racist groups of people who do not agree with his movies and there meaning. He has addressed controversial and debatable topics with his opinion even if it is not the common opinion and has always done things his way from camera angles the topics.

In conclusion, Spike Lee is 100% a notable person who has changed the world of film and just the planet in general and anyone that does not consider him notable is crazy. His films have changed the way many minority's and African American people are now viewed. His impact on the world is what makes him notable and I know you will all think the same as me. Thank you for reading my Big Question and if you have my other pieces.
