Dear Mrs Marques,  

There is no doubt that Spike lee is a very notable person. In his life he has made countless influential films and has supported the African American people, illuminating many of the problems of modern times. From police brutality and racism to the unfair stereotyping of minorities, he has never been inclined to go with “the flow” and to try and avoid controversy. These are the reasons why I think he is notable. 

 

Growing up with a mother who constantly encouraged him and his siblings to be proud of their African American heritage, Spike lee is easily one of the most influential people in the field of black rights. He has shown this in his films from his early ones like Do the Right Thing in 1989, which is about a young, black teenager who is a graffiti artist. He is killed by a police officer, much like what happened to George Floyd. Another important film of Spike Lee’s is Malcom X.  One of his newer ones Da Five Bloods highlights the African American people’s almost forgotten important part In Vietnam. On top of that he also celebrates many other minorities in areas of gender, sexuality and class. 

 

Spike Lee’s adaptability and longevity alone is enough to make him a notable person. Through his many years of creating films he has been able to adapt to the current world’s audience and change from comedy to romance, and from horror to documentaries and autobiographies. He has also not let his growing age get to him, as he continues to dress as did back in the 90s in his Michal Jordan ads. 

 

 Spike lee is an amazing director in terms of his artistic use of camera, colour and music. He has created a lot of well-known camera angles. Spike lee has a very distinctive feel to his joints (which is what he calls his movies). In most of his “joints” he uses colourful and vibrant colours and dramatic filters for different scenes. But this is not the case for all his movies. Some are black and white or use cool, cold colours. He also directed, wrote, produced, edited and acted a key supporting role in She’s Gotta Have It, making himself a well-known director as it profited seven million dollars and was made with just 175 thousand dollars. 

 

Finally, Spike lee is also a well-known personality in pop culture and his ads with the Jordan shoe brand boosted them, making them street cool. He has also attended almost every Knicks (basketball team) home game courtside for many years and is said to have spent over ten million dollars on their tickets 

 

In conclusion, Spike lee is a very popular and has had such a big impact and is one hundred percent a notable person. He has helped many groups of people and continues to have a very positive effect on the world of film and I should definitely be able to do him.
